My M.A.D On Endangered Animals

Here is my M.A.D on Endangered animals

My Speech

Global Warming
I melt icebergs and raise sea levels. I cause storms and droughts. I am caused mainly by greenhouse gases that trap the sun’s energy in our atmosphere. Some people call me climate change. And some people pretend that I am not happening! What am I? That’s right I’m Global Warming.

Global warming is destroying our planet and our world is at a tipping point, we almost can’t control it! So if you want to help do something about global warming, then listen carefully.

Why is it happening?
Global warming is happening because of, can you guess? Us. Yes, us humans are causing global warming. We are causing it by doing things like driving cars, letting gases out of factories and cutting down trees.  Gases including carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane are becoming trapped in the atmosphere and making the earth too hot. Which means that it’s melting icebergs and rising sea levels.

This is already having a diabolical effect on many islands around the world. The inhabitants on the Carteret Islands of Papua New Guinea  have to move to another Island called Bougainville because of seawater flooding their island. Salty seawater has contaminated their drinking water and the soil they grow their food in. In a few years the island will disappear under the rising sea levels. And this is one of many stories around the world.

Marine life
The marine life is dying, which means animals are dying, our food is disappearing and reefs are crumbling. Marine animal dying from climate change include plankton, which makes up a big part of marine food chains. This is bad for corals, fish, polar bears, walruses, seals, sea lions, penguins, and seabirds. Some people think that the sea temperature will rise between 1.4°C and 5.8°C by the end of the century.

If the sea is too hot it will kill the the coral reefs. These are the places where baby fish are born and grow. Without them there will be no big fish to eat.  Global warming is definitely one of the main killers for many species.

So what is it going to do New Zealand? Global warming will cause 6 main problems as I see it.

  1. There will be higher temperature meaning people will use more fuel to drive to the beach most days to cool off.
  2. There will be more demands for air conditioning which will cost more money.
  3. There will be hotter summers which means higher risk of heat stress/and heat stroke and subtropical diseases, making NZers sicker.
  4. More rain in winters which will cause flash floods which means more flooded homes, washed away land and roads. This will cost everyone money.
  5. There will be more water demand in hot summers which will cost lots since there won’t be as much water.
  6. Hotter summers may cause damage of transportation which might mean buckled railway lines and melted asphalt on the roads.

How to help
What I’ve said may seem drastic and you might be horrified, but… there are things you can do to help at home!
Here are some of the things you can do.
  • Riding a bike, walking or scootering places.
  • Using energy efficient light bulbs.
  • Turning off your chargers and unplugging things when you’re not using them.
  • Switch to electric or hybrid car.
  • And last but not least hang dry instead of drying in a machine as the machine uses too much electricity.
So please, instead of using a car just stick with the bike or walk.

Now that my speech is almost at end I have a challenge for all of you. If you do all the things I have said (or even more if you find them). YOU will help to save the world from global warming! And that good karma will come back to you someday. Even if it’s one or two people doing this, we can still change the world. 🇭🇷Ⓛ.Ⓗ🇭🇷
